The Bowling Green is a wonderful green area that sits in the heart of East Pollokshields. It’s a flourishing space that’s community designed and led and is located on the site of the former Kingston Bowling Club.

During lockdown, we have been working hard as a team to create a new identity and website for the Bowling Green that is distinctive, welcoming and will connect the local community to both the heritage and future of this important greenspace.

The new identity is built on the work that was done during the Mark Makers Charrette process and is designed to be a foundation of the new chapter of the Bowling Green’s life at the heart of the community.

Over the last year, we’ve been working hard to bring the site back to life and transform it into a safe space for everyone to enjoy. We’ve seen wildlife and wildflowers return, created a small market garden and started work on the building too with the aim to provide a café, kitchen and workshop space.

With our exit from lockdown well underway we’re excited to welcome the community back to share and enjoy this wonderful space.

If you live near the Bowling Green, you won’t have been able to miss the lowering of the new container onto the site in June. This former shipping container forms a key part of one of our new projects on the site that we’re undertaking in collaboration with SoulRiders.

SoulRiders is a community-led organisation working towards creating a stronger, healthier, more active community through cycling. We’re excited to be working in partnership with them at the Bowling Green and we’ll be announcing details about the project soon.
